Used Circle Y Barrel Saddles for Sale – Don’t Get Taken

There are plenty of places to buy used Circle Y barrel saddles for sale. Ebay is not one of them. Neither is Craigslist. I know. I know. Ebay and Craigslist have gotten popular over the years. But based on reviews from both sellers and buyers, there are just too many problems that make eBay and Craigslist two of the worst platforms to buy used Circle Y barrel saddles for sale online.

In this article, I’ll show you where to safely buy used Circle Y barrel saddles for sale from a reputable dealer, and how to avoid getting scammed on eBay and Craigslist. Then, I’ll showcase a few awesome, used Circle Y Barrel saddles that are on sale and where you can buy them.

Used Circle Y Barrel Saddles for Sale The Problem With Ebay

Based on public reviews and complaints, these are some of the most common problems customers have encountered when  looking to buy used Circle Y Barrel saddles for sale on ebay (and some apply to Craigslist):

  1. No customer service support
  2. Items ordered never arrive
  3. Sellers don’t respond when you contact them about the item never received
  4. Customers claim that ebay often closes their ticket without investigation
  5. There’s often no money-back guarantee
  6. No one answers the phones in customer service
  7. Refunds either take long or don’t happen at all

What Should You Look For When Buying a Saddle Online?

For starters, never buy a horse saddle on Craigslist or ebay. You’ll probably get incorrect measurements for the seat and tree and doctored photographs of the saddle. Since there’s no money-back guaranteed on either site, you’re stuck with the saddle if it’s not as described, or if it doesn’t fit your horse.

So, if you’re going to buy a saddle online, follow these guidelines:

  1. Always buy from a place where there’s a money-back guarantee
  2. Always make sure there’s a working customer service number
  3. Always make sure there are multiple, clear pictures of the saddle
  4. Always google reviews for the seller or the website

Since this post is about where to find used Circle Y barrel saddles for sale, I’m going point you directly to a reputable site that sells high-quality, new and used Circle Y (and lots of other brands) barrel racing saddles.

Used Circle Y Barrel Saddles for Sale

Where To Find Used Circle Y Barrel Saddles For Sale

The Horse Saddle Shop is one of the most reputable western horse saddle shops online.  They specialize in selling new and used Western horse saddles. Circle Y is one of their biggest clients. At the Horse Saddle Shop, you can find plenty of used Circle Y Barrel Saddles for sale.

Here are 3 of their most popular used Circle Y barrel saddles.

Used Circle Y Fischer Buckstitch Treeless Barrel Saddle

used circle y barrel saddles for sale

If you love treeless design, this Circle Y barrel saddle is the model for you. Tammy Fisher had vision when she designed this saddle. It’s designed with a deep seat pocket and tall cantle to keep the rider secure, while the treeless design makes the saddle lightweight, which allows your horse to move more freely – for optimal and increased performance. I absolutely love the custom-designed seat, which makes this saddle shine all the more.

Buckstitched borders are back in style, and this saddle does not disappoint. It’s finished with antique berry conchos and aluminum stirrups.

When you buy this barrel saddle from the Horse Saddle Shop, you’re guaranteed that it will be thoroughly cleaned and oiled. The saddle tree and leather parts are inspected for soundness. If there’s anything wrong with the saddle, saddle experts are on-site and will repair/replace as needed.

The seat and tree are properly measured. FYI, the average horseback rider doesn’t know how to properly measure a saddle, and oftentimes the saddle measurements advertised on ebay, Craigslist, etc. are inaccurate.  The best part about buying this saddle from the Horse Saddle Shop is that it’s offered with a free shipping and two-week return policy.

    Hi Shalisha,

I didn’t even know that you could buy saddles on ebay or Craigslist. I would imagine that I wouldn’t trust buying something so crucial to riding on either of those sites. I have to admit, I haven’t shopped on Ebay in a while, nor list just because some of the items I buy on either are not guaranteed and are often more expensive than if I bought them locally.

It’s the same with Amazon. I stopped buying certain items from there since I have found that in some cases it can be more expensive rather than looking here.

Thanks for sharing this with us, so we know!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Katrina. Thanks for your feedback! Yes, it’s beyond me why anyone would buy such an expensive item like a saddle on ebay or craigslist. But, people do. And you’re right, ebay tends to mark up the price considerably. Well, I’m glad I was able to provide you with helpful information. And yes, Amazon sometimes engages in price gouging. How annoying.

  • Jade says:

    Hi Shalisha,

Wow, this is such an informative review! It’s excellent!

I have used Ebay quite a few times in my life with only one negative experience. I think it can be great for buying certain things, especially unique things, but you do definitely have to be careful, and I would never ever buy something this specialized or expensive on Ebay. You bring up the importance of having customer service, a return policy, and I have to whole-heartedly agree that they’re of paramount importance when making big purchases. I love that – instead of telling us we just have to buy it used – you provide so many – much more reliable – alternatives to buying used saddles.

Thanks for such a thorough article!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Jade. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’m so glad my post was helpful to you. I try to be as helpful to my visitors as possible. My goal is to help them make an informed decision when it comes to saddle buying. I’m glad you found this helpful.

  • Delyana says:

Hi there, thank you so much for this helpful article. I don’t know anything about horses, but now I know that eBay is not the best place to buy horse saddles. I have a friend who loves horses. I will send her this article. I think she will find it helpful.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Delyana. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’d love it if you refer your friend to this site. I try to provide helpful tips for buying saddles. And yes, eBay is not the best place to buy horse saddles.

  • Willow says:

Great advice. I’ve seen some nice-looking saddles on eBay, along with some great prices, but I do question the quality, and that’s why I’ve never purchased a saddle online.

Craigslist is a little better, as you can actually meet to see what you are buying, but even then, you can get duped after buying and getting it home you notice the flaws in it. By that time, it’s too late, as there are no warranties.

I’m with you in that the best place to buy a saddle is from a reputable dealer. It’s always nice to be given a recommendation for one; thanks.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Willow. Thanks for your comment – and for the validation. Yes, with Craigslist, you do get to see the saddle, but once you get home, if there’s a problem with the saddle, or if it doesn’t fit your horse, you’re stuck. So yes, always buy from a reputable dealer. Thanks for the comment.

  • Mick says:

Thank you for sharing the information on horse saddles.

I don’t ride and to be honest, never have, but my granddaughter does and loves it, even the mucking out.

I will pass this onto her because I know she is looking at purchasing a horse and unless saddles come with the horse (which is unlikely) then this is something she is going to be looking for.

    Once again thanks

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Mick. Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I’d love it if you passed this on to your granddaughter. It will help her decide which saddle is the right saddle for her.

  • C.N. says:

Thank you so much for this highly informative article, Shalisha! I have just recently gotten back into horseback riding (I used to love riding horses as a kid, but Chicago and life got in the way of that. Haha), and I was just thinking about investing in a couple of new/used barrel saddles! I always look for saddles that are affordable, comfortable, spacious, as well as durable. You have provided an excellent array of choices here (thank you so much for your detailed and thorough explanations of each product)! I have saved your website for future reference, and I will definitely be back! God bless you!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope you do come back when you’re ready to buy a used saddle.

  • Rob says:

Hi, I was a seller on eBay for a while. It is not as easy as one might think. After you narrow your price down to make it “attractable” there is no room for profit. It is fun to watch people bid on your item but stinks when it sells for less.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Rob. Thanks for your contribution and insight.

  • Gorjan says:

I’ve wanted to try horse riding for years now, but I never actually got the chance to. (until last week)

I instantly fell in love with it, and now I’m ready to take things to the next step and join a horse riding club.

I’ve searched for horse saddles on a couple of different sites, but none of them had recommendations like yours.

Thanks for taking the time to craft such a fantastic post; I had a blast reading it. <3

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Gorjan. Congratulations on taking up horse riding. I think you’ll enjoy it. Yes, I think it’s important to help people pick the right saddle based on their discipline and to ensure that both rider and horse are comfortable. Wonderful to hear from you.

  • Hannie says:

I would fall for that first saddle because of the decoration. I know, not a good reason to buy a saddle, but the eye needs pleasure too. 🙂

Your tips about ebay and craigs’list seems applicable to all products, by the look of it? I am not familiar with either one, so thanks for the warning!

As far as horses are concerned, I am more about looking at them and admiring their movements, than riding them. I have done it a few times. Even took lessons. But the last instructor I had wasn’t very good and the horse certainly didn’t like me, as he threw me off. Ouch. 😀

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Hannie. Thanks for commenting. Ouch! Sorry you got thrown from your horse. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries. Yes, looks are important in a saddle, but not the most important thing. The most important thing is good fit for both horse and rider.

  • Tom says:

    Hi Shalisha,

It’s great that I came across this article. My niece goes horse riding at the weekends and she is loving it more and more. My brother and sister in law have been talking about buying a saddle for her but don’t know where to start. So, I am going to share your article with them and hopefully they will have a lot more information than they previously had.

I will encourage them to get in touch if they have any questions or issues with buying their saddle. If that is OK with you?

Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work.

    All the best,

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Tom. Thanks for commenting. Yes! I’d love it if you recommended your niece to my site. The purpose of this site is to help people make informed decisions about purchasing something as expensive as a horse saddle.

      • Shyla says:

I know someone who recently acquired a horse from rescue. They have been looking for a saddle. I will be directing them to your site and this post so that they can make a better informed decision on where to get a horse saddle. I will also warn them against Craigslist and Ebay. Thanks so much for your great post.

        • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Shyla. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Yes. Please do tell your horse riding friends about this site. I designed it so that I could help inform people on how to choose a saddle since it really is a big investment.

  • Ivan says:

Thanks a lot for sharing these ideas. I’ve never ridden a horse before, but I do have a Hore Center near my home and I would like to include horse riding into my hobbies. I appreciate your suggestions here. I will check out all of them and see with my neighbour what he says about which one to choose. Thanks!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Ivan! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’m really excited for you to start riding. You’re going to love it (I think). But having the right saddle – one that fits both rider and horse – is one of the keys to enjoying this wonderful pastime. Good luck, and please come again soon.

      • Ivan says:

You’re welcome. Thanks for getting back at me. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the activity. It’s actually something I really want to do but have never had enough time to pursuit. Your site here and all your recommendations help a lot to make the right decision. Thanks again!

        • Shalisha Alston says:

You are very welcome. I’m so happy I can help. Please feel free to ask me any questions you have. I’ll do my best to help you. And if I don’t know the answer, I’ll direct you to a resource that can.

  • Sean says:

Your article ‘Used Circle Y Barrel Saddles for Sale – Should You Avoid eBay and Craigslist?’ will serve as a proper warning to a lot of people about the dangers of getting circle y barrel saddles from ebay or Craigslist which is why I’ll be happy to share it to as many people as possible so to spread the information.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Sean. Thanks for your support. I would love it if you put the word out. Horse saddles can be expensive, even the used ones. No one wants to get scammed so I’m just helping people make better choices.  Thanks again.

  • ReeceMichael says:

Hello there, thank you for making this thing easier for us all as there are so many people who are looking for a place to get the right saddle for them but they end up getting pissed because of the bad ones they are always getting online nf I’ll be glad to get this suggestion you have given. It will go a long way to helping us all

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Reece. Thanks for dropping by and giving me feedback. Yes, I feel bad for those people who buy a saddle on eBay or Craigslist, only to not have it fit – then they can’t bring it back. Please feel free to tell as many people as you can about my website as I do thorough reviews on Western horse saddles. Have a fabulous day!

  • Jackie says:

I understand that I cannot aleaahs get the best stuff from eBay and Craigslist that’s why I’m always on the kook out to know where I would be able to get those things before buying them. I currently need a circle barrel and that’s the reason why I’m here on your website. I think you have a very good recommendation that is worth trying.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Jackie. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Look no further. You can either buy Circle Y saddles on my site or at the Horse Saddle Shop. They have a money-back guarantee.

  • Lisa says:

This is great advice about buying used horse saddles. I don’t ride myself but i do have a lot of friends that have their own horses. I have a friend who is is looking for a second hand saddle. I will warn her not to purchase one from e bay for the reasons you have stated. Is there a certain size you would require based on height and weight?

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Lisa. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Second-hand saddles are great – providing the seller oils it and makes certain the tree is intact.  The only way to assure that you’ll get a quality used saddle is to go to a reputable dealer. Yes, please tell your friend to stay away from eBay and Craigslist when it comes to buying horse saddles.  The size of the saddle will be based on her riding discipline, the size of the horse’s back, her height and weight. But she can get help with getting her horse fitted for a saddle by contacting the Horse Saddle Shop. They guide you step by step through the horse saddle buying process. They also give a money-back guarantee.  I hope that helps.

  • Leslie Love says:

Buying from eBay and Craigslist is super challenging and if you don’t know what you are looking for in a seller you could end up losing your money.   Although I do not buy saddles this could apply to just about anything that you are looking to buy. I recently bought an item from eBay and it was unsafe to be used. I asked for my money back and only got half of it. Then they wanted me to change my feedback to show positive. Overall this is a great topic!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Leslie. Thanks for your insight. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with eBay. Can you imagine how you would have felt had you plunked down your hard-earned cash for a saddle? Yes, stay away from eBay when it comes to buying horse saddles. Good job!

  • Julai says:

No horses in our area growing up, but we had cows and carabaos and we had free rides! Reading this article made me wish that we had saddles growing up for a more smoother ride. Our parents just made an improvised saddle made of sacks or old clothes, but really, the only thing that it did was to keep our clothes a bit cleaner especially if the carabao just had a bath in the mud. But it didn’t protect us from the bony parts of the carabao, it hurts a lot, but it was definitely fun, too.

And thanks for the information about ebay. Ebay here in Spain is not very famous as amazon and we don’t have craiglist.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Julai. Thanks for stopping by and giving me feedback. I appreciate it. Yes, saddles make for a smoother ride for sure.

  • Aly says:

Ooh, I have used ebay and craigslist with mixed success for lots of purchases (and sales) over the years. I hadn’t really considered all of the reasons that those channels would be a bad place to purchase a used circle y barrel saddle but right off of the bat, the lack of customer service could be a big issue. I’d say craigslist is definitely out for this purchase, but do you think that there are ebay sellers with enough positive reviews / feedback that this could be an option (with enough research into the seller)?

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Aly. Thanks for your question. Even if the sellers had stellar reputations, the problem with buying a horse saddle from an individual online is that it doesn’t afford you protection from other things like no money back guarantee, incorrect measurements of the seat and tree so that once you take the saddle home and it doesn’t fit, you’re out of luck.  And let’s face it, saddles, even used ones, are expensive. Better to buy it from a reputable horse saddle dealer with customer service and a known track record.  Thanks again for your question.

  • Emma B says:

Wow, what a great website! Really pleased I came across your article because I have been hunting for the best place to buy a second-hand saddle and save a bit of money, while still getting a high-quality product. It sounds like eBay and Craigslist are not good options for me after all. I absolutely love the design of the Buckstitch; it’s beautiful. I’ll go see what I can find on the Horse Saddle Shop as you recommend.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Emma! Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Horse Saddle Shop has been selling high-quality Western horse saddles online since 2005. They have a money-back guarantee, great live customer service, and they assist you in picking out the right saddle for you and your horse.

  • Riaz Shah says:

    Great article Shalisha,

Man just look at the engravings on the Fischer Buckstitch Treeless Barrel Saddle, very exquisite! I remember my dad wanted to have that kind of saddle back then when he first tried horse riding, over time I forgot all about it because I couldn’t find it anywhere. Wouldn’t want to miss out on this one!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Riaz. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.  Yes, it seems lots of people are liking and commenting on the Buckstitch. It is a beauty! I hope you’ll buy it one day.

  • Zvezdan says:

Thank you for sharing this is another new experience of mine regarding horse equipment and where to order. Since I have a lot of friends who are actively competing in equestrian races in Serbia, this will be interesting to them, and i just wanted to ask if there is any particular guarantee of a second-hand product, such as a horse seat. Since the seats aren’t cheap, I’m only asking if my question is in place? Thank you again for sharing

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Zvezdan. Thanks for your question. You’re right! Horse saddles are not cheap – even the used ones. Fortunately, the Horse Saddle Shop gives a money-back guarantee, so long as you make the return within 2 weeks of purchase. Hope that helps.

  • israel Olatunji says:

The buckstitch looks very beautiful and it’s awesome to know that it’s lightly constructed or built for the horse. The used ultimate Cash Barrel Saddle of Martha Josey also looks really practical, so I love it. I have only ridden a horse once at the beach years ago, but it’s interesting to know that those saddles look friendly and awesome to the horses. Thanks for sharing the secure places to buy saddles in your post, Christine!

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Israel. Thanks for commenting. Everyone keeps commenting on how beautiful the Buckstitch saddle is!  I’m glad you appreciate it’s beauty and I hope you’ll purchase a saddle when you’re ready.

  • Clark says:

What a great guide for buying a saddle! Thank you for your warning about eBay and Craigslist. They are popular sites and I’m not averse to frequenting these kinds of website to get some stuff for myself, but I can certainly see your logic of not using these types of ‘stores’ for horse saddles.

If I’m a horse-riding fanatic, I would surely go for The Proven Rush Barrel Saddle as I think it has a cool, olden-days, western, cowboy look about it.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Clark! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Yes, I think eBay and Craigslist might be good for much less expensive things. But horse saddles, even used ones, are not cheap. An investment like that requires careful scrutiny of the seller.  It’s always better to go to a reputable dealer when buying a horse saddle.  I’m glad you like The Proven Rush Barrel Saddle. It is a beauty, isn’t it?

  • Norman says:

Although I have never ridden a horse in my life your post on what to look for is really informative because the last thing you want is to buy a second hand or used saddle that is not good without being able to talk to someone to help sort out the issue or even giving you your funds back. This is a great warning and insight for seeking to buy at a bargain only to get something that is not good.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Norman. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I agree. Sometimes, it seems like we’re getting a bargain by going to someone who may sell the saddle to us for a cheap price. But in the long run, if the saddle doesn’t fit, and you have no money-back guarantee, what did you really save?  Thanks again for stopping by.

  • Alejandra says:

Thanks so much for sharing a good article to read that I’m sure will help many to buy a used circle Y Barrel Saddle. A good friend of mine has two young girls who are currently learning about horses, my friend asked me if I knew about anyone who is interested to sell a used saddle as we live in the country and there are a few people around here who love horse riding, So I thought I could find some information on the internet and I’m glad I found your article, I will forward your website to my friend and I’m sure she will find your article helpful and it will help her to find what she is looking for.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Alejandra! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Yes, by all means, please do refer your friend to my site. My goal is to help people pick out the right saddle based on their discipline. My other goal is to make sure the rider picks a saddle that is both comfortable for them and the horse.

  • Teboho Lekhanya says:

    Thanks for the article!

I have a Sports project that covers all sporting codes, including horse racing. We are exploring buying horse saddles of 2 different prices, as prizes for Horse #1 and Horse #2. This would be in line with all the other sporting codes, where prizes are sporting equipment, rather than money. I never knew that used horse saddles are available. This would be a good starting point because new saddles are steeply priced. My questions:

    1. Does the Horse Saddle Shop have saddles suitable for racing?

    2. Does the Horse Saddle Shop ship to Southern Africa?

    • Shalisha Alston says:

H Teboho! Thanks for commenting.  I think it’s a brilliant idea to give away used saddles as gifts. Some saddles are as low as $500. Others, on the high end, can cost up to $10,000. The good news is that The Horse Saddle Shop has something for everyone. And you always get a money back guarantee with the Horse Saddle Shop. And I just used the chat feature on the Horse Saddle Shop website to ask them if they ship to South Africa. They do!

  • Jelena says:

Wow, this is really great. When a friend told me that she ordered an online saddle for kowe and that it got exactly as stated in the description and what it looked like in the pictures I was thrilled. As someone who has loved horses since I was a child and owns a few of them, I have been trying to find a way to get quality equipment for my pets but again to make it worth my money. And I found it and I am very satisfied. Definitely all recommendations from me.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Jelena. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I’m so glad my post put your mind at ease. Buying a saddle is a huge investment, so you want to make sure you’re going to get support before and after you buy the saddle.

  • LineCowley says:

I have not come across The Horse Saddle Shop before, so found this to be a very helpful post on the best place to buy used saddles. I fully agree with you that eBay and Craigslist are not the places to buy a specialist product like a saddle. I have been avoiding Craigslist specifically as it seems to be filled with scammers. These saddles all look great, and it is good to know that The Hore Saddles Shop is a reputable outlet for used saddles.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. Yes, The Horse Saddle Shop is the #1 reputable horse saddle dealer online.  Glad you avoid Craigslist to buy specialist products like horse saddles.

  • Kelvin says:

Being my first of getting to know what a circle y barrel saddle is, I will say I have been able to know enough about what a circle y barrel saddle. Thanks for not only using this article has a review for eBay and Craigslist, but also as a source of knowledge about circle y barrel saddles and to recommend good sources for getting used circle y barrel saddles. Pertaining the saddle made with steel, will there be any harming effect to the horse or rider when using it? I would love to know as I have never ridden on a horse before.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Kelvin. Thanks for stopping by and commenting – great question. The saddles aren’t made of steel. Saddles are constructed from what are called “trees”. The trees are oftentimes made of wood but can be made of fiberglass or plastic.  None of these harms the horse’s back.

What harms the horse’s back is when someone purchases the wrong size saddle, meaning the tree doesn’t conform to the horse’s back, or if the tree is broken and is digging into the horse’s back, or they purchased the wrong type of saddle.

  • Alblue says:

Thank you, this is a very handy tip for my uncle to buy a new horse saddle. Are used saddles has a large price difference with new saddle (similar to electronics?) Otherwise, I’m sure my uncle will prefer to buy a new one instead. Also, does the jockey’s weight affecting the saddle type (may need a stronger one)? Thanks for answering.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

      Hi Alblue.

Thanks for stopping by.  Used saddles can sometimes still be very expensive, and so, depending on your budget, it sometimes just pays to buy a new saddle. As for the jockey’s weight affecting the saddle type – no. What determines the type of saddle you buy and its sturdiness is your riding discipline first. Once you’ve picked the saddle based on your discipline, you’ll need to discuss with your saddle maker what type of tree you’re looking for in a saddle.  Treeless saddles tend to be lightweight. But due to technological advances, saddle makers are now able to make saddle trees that are light for any discipline. I hope this helps.

I think a used circle Y barrel saddle is a very specific or technical item. So, you shouldn’t buy it just from anyone on the street. And we all know that sellers on eBay and craigslist are common people like you and me.

So, it is better to check an online platform that specializes in the matter, as you so well advised.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi. Thanks for visiting my site and taking the time to comment. Yes, when you’re looking for something by typing in a very specific name brand and type of saddle, or anything for that matter, it means you’re serious about buying. Since saddles are expensive, even the cheap ones, it’s best to buy from a reputable saddle dealer online with a money-back guarantee.

Yes. The Horse Saddle Shop is amazing and has a fine reputation. Glad I could help you.

I have never bought anything on eBay. While I believe it’s a great platform to advertise products, i have heard more negative reviews about eBay than good ones. EBay does not seem to have any restrictions either, which has led to several cases of animal cruelty. So, I am glad that you are sharing safer sites to purchase good saddles here.
The Buckstitch is very pretty and I love that it’s lightweight for the horse, I also like the Used Circle Y Martha Josey Ultimate Cash Barrel Saddle. It looks very pratical. I have not ridden horses in many years, but these saddles look great and very friendly to the horses. I can see that they are good quality.

Hi Christine. Thanks for stopping by! Yes, unfortunately, eBay went downhill considerably. Since horse saddles are an expensive investment, it’s wise to only buy from a site that’s transparent. Again, thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I was looking at the weight of the saddles and could not help but wonder if jockeys that participates in horse racing events have completely different saddles than advertised here, specialised saddles that are very lightweight in comparison?

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. With respect to Western horse saddles and specifically this post, depending on the discipline, the horse saddles can be made lightweight. For instance, in barrel racing, which is a competitive event, the rider can opt for a treeless saddle, which would make the saddle lightweight – as opposed to a barrel saddle that was made with a wooden tree. What’s showcased in this post is 3 different models of saddles, and they don’t represent all barrel racing saddles. The treeless saddle is the lightest, weighing in at 21 pounds, as opposed to the other 2 weighing in at 26 and 27 pounds because of the wood needed for the tree.

Also, with advanced technology, riders have the option of buying saddles that are lighter in weight in their respective disciplines. I hope that answers your question.
