The T60 High Plains Saddle is the best-selling saddle from Tucker. Tucker is a saddle company that prides itself on being the most well-rounded trail saddle maker for all breeds and riders. And that’s a strong statement considering the many different shapes and sizes that horses and riders can come in.
Tucker High Plains Trail Saddle Company
Tucker boasts a record of being the first trail saddle manufacturer. The company has pioneered the way for trail riders. Their saddles are specifically made to enjoy not only the long rides, but to withstand whatever terrain is ahead. And, to be honest, they’ve done a great job with this particular saddle.
Why do I say this? Because customers around the U.S. have been raving about this saddle. Riders note in particular this saddle’s comfortable design and it’s ability to withstand long rides.
They love the sophisticated look of the saddle as well. This Tucker High Plains Trail saddle T60 comes in just shy of a $2,000 price mark at the base model. It’s also one of the more expensive trail saddles on the market.
But, there’s a good reason for its high price: versatility.
T60 High Plains Saddle Versatility and Wide Tree
See, the rounded skirt and wide tree will fit most short-backed horses, like Arabians and other breeds that are notoriously difficult to fit. Furthermore, you can customize this saddle on every option. The seat size comes in sizes 15.5 to 18.5 inches, which means it not only can accommodate most horse sizes, but it can accommodate most riders as well.
The T60 high plains saddle features and benefits don’t stop there either.

T60 High Plains Saddle Comfort
Let’s talk about comfort. A deep seat that locks riders into place isn’t the only thing that makes this saddle a customer favorite. Have you ever suffered from sore knees after dismounting from a ride? The T60 High Plains Saddle is designed with ergonomics in mind, specifically with respect to the stirrups.
The stirrups are cone-shaped designed, which makes riding easy on your knees and ankles, which means you won’t suffer soreness after you’ve dismounted.
Positive Customer Feedback of the T60 High Plains
Now, of course, there’s no such thing as a perfect saddle. Afterall, we don’t live in a perfect world.
Some customers have reported that the seat of the T60 high plains saddle sits higher than their previously owned saddles. However, if you normally ride in a close contact saddle or something similar, then that will be your experience.
So, my suggestion to you is that it’ll probably just take a few rides in order for you to learn to sit in the saddle and adjust your seat to it so that you’re not sore afterwards.
What other feedback have customers given?
Supple Ride Leather Option – The Broken-In Leather Feature
Well, even more customers have commented that they’d rather spend a little extra money for leather that’s already broken in. Why? Imagine a new pair of leather shoes. They look great and fit great, but after wearing them for a full day, you realize you have blisters. That’s because your shoes are stiff, and they need to be broken in. Broken-in leather is not only softer, but it bends and moves easier.
So, if you can afford it, buy the Supple Ride leather option.
Lastly, Tucker Trail Saddles has been around for 35 years. Because of their longevity in business, they’ve learned a great deal about what their customers want and need. Tucker understands the necessity of using high-quality material. They also understand that what sets them apart is the science behind their designs and the expert craftmanship of their saddles.
And Tucker saddles always strives to be unique.
Here’s a fun fact:
Steve Tucker, the owner, founder, and rider of Tucker Trail Saddles, took over ownership of the popular Circle Y brand of saddles. So, when you buy a Tucker saddle, you can be assured that it’s “trail tested.” And the T60 High Plains Saddle is no exception.

Can I just say I really like your website. I really like what you have to say about this horse saddle. I do not ride, but this would be very helpful for someone who does. I liked that I got a picture and a review about the product itself. It sure would help someone who rode and needed it.
Hi Kiersti. Thanks for your feedback. I’m so glad you stopped by and read my review. I’m also glad my review was helpful to you. I’m sure it will be helpful to others who ride horses. Yes, this saddle is absolutely stunning and wonderfully made. Please be sure to stop by again.
Very well done article! I appreciate how thorough you are with your reviews. I didn’t know that “broken-in” leather was an option. Pretty smart on their part!
Hi William. Thanks for stopping by. Yes! “Broken-in” anything is always a good thing when it comes to leather. There’s nothing like the good feeling of a comfortable saddle that’s brand new, but feels like you’ve worn it a thousand times! Please stop by again. I look forward to seeing you.
I only ride a horse when I visit farms, so this article shows me a whole new world. I am surprised about the saddle price, but I can understand. They are made to protect people from getting hurt from riding a horse and providing comfort to people. If I can keep my horses, I will surely follow your instructions to get one of T60.
Thanks for sharing,
Matt
Hi Matt. Thanks for your comment. The price is due to the hand tooling and soft leather. It truly is a one-of-a-kind saddle. But, the good news is that you have the option of buying used saddles. Our used saddles are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and oiled. We also offer a money-back guarantee on all of our saddles. I look forward to seeing you again.
Hey Shalisha,
This is a great review of the T60 High Plains Saddle.
I can see all the benefits, features and specifications clearly. This saddle looks very comfortable for nice long trail rides. I can see the hefty price tag, but considering the quality of the materials, the workmanship – this saddle is probably worth the money.
Can I ask, is this your favourite saddle? Also do you personally use this saddle? and if not, which saddle do you use for your longer trail rides?
Thank you
Hi John. Thanks for your comment. Yes, the hefty price tag is because of the hand tooling and soft leather. It’s definitely worth the price. I don’t use this saddle, and I don’t have a favorite. There are so many amazing, comfortable saddles, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I hope to see you again.
Thanks for sharing all these great insights into this saddle! I haven’t been on a horse for a long time mainly because it was so uncomfortable. I actually had no idea that you could customize a saddle, get broken-in leather or that one with ergonomic functions actually existed. So this is really nice to learn about. You’ve given me good reason to reconsider riding lessons once again! I must keep this one in mind as the features and design look really nice.
Hi Lee. Thanks for your comment. I’m so sorry you never heard of ergonomically functional saddles. But to be honest, this kind of technology is only recent. Prior to the last 20 years, the industry wasn’t as advanced as we are today. I hope you will pick up trail riding again. It’s wonderfully exhilarating. I hope to see you soon.
This is a great website to help you find a great saddle. I used to trail ride and you sure need a good saddle that is comfortable and fits you as on some of the long rides it can get very uncomfortable and tire you out. A good saddle is one that fits you and your horse.
Hi Walt. Thanks for your comment. Yes indeed. You need a saddle that’s going to be comfortable. Trail rides are for pleasure. And there’s nothing worse than trying to enjoy the scenery while you’re uncomfortable sitting in a saddle. I’m glad you enjoyed my post. Do stop by again.
It has been years since I have been on a horse. Even then, though, I did not know that you could buy a saddle with such specific customizations. All of the saddles I have ever been on have been very uncomfortable and, like you said, hard on the knees! It is nice to know when I decide to go horseback riding again where I can get a decent saddle.
Hi Siobhan. Thanks for your feedback. There’s nothing worse than getting off a horse and having your knees sore. And yes, the T60 high plains (and all Tucker saddles) are so customizable. It’s totally worth the price. I hope to see you soon.
I think investing in a quality saddle is important. Even if you can get one for less than $500, it will wear down quickly and you’ll have to buy a new one. It’s better to spend more money on something that will last more time.
I like the fact that this saddle can fit most horses and riders. That’s a great plus. The price is in the average range for a product under this category.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Enrique. Thanks for commenting. Yes, if you buy a cheap saddle, it will break and become unusable. It’s better to invest in a possibly higher-priced, good-quality saddle and have it for years. Another alternative is to invest in a good, used saddle, which is what the Horse Saddle Shop offers with a money-back guarantee.
Great review! I used to ride a horse when I was little, and it was on a school field trip to a farm. My classmates and I included got to ride horses with the mounts.
I, of course, did remember how uncomfortable it was when riding a horse, and how hard the straddle felt. Since I found your article, I am eager to get back to horse riding again.
Thanks for your review. 🙂
Hi Terence. Thanks for your comment! Yes, when I first got on a horse, I was so sore. I didn’t know that there were more comfortable saddle options. We live and we learn. So glad to hear from you and I hope you stop by again.
