Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews – Should You Buy One?

Cashel trail saddle reviews are far and few in between on the internet. So, I figured I’d do one for you because Cashel trail saddles are a great investment for the serious rider. Most reviews aren’t honest. In fact, these reviews are all in an attempt to make you buy the product they’re peddling. So any Cashel trail saddle reviews I do, will be honest.

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews – Know Your Horse

A great rider should know their horse. This statement is as simple as it is obvious. Every great rider should have a strong relationship with their horse.

This includes things like knowing their limits, their likes, their dislikes, their fears, and more. So shouldn’t it make sense that a great rider should know their saddle too as it’s one of the only physical things separating them from their horse while riding him or her?

This is what the people at Cashel believe in. Just go on the Cashel company website and you will not only see their products, which includes their fabulous saddles and other pieces of riding gear, but you will also see a herd of blogs relating to the topic of how to care for your horse.

A company that takes this much consideration into the care of the horses that their products are used on must put that extra effort into the saddles they make.

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews – Cashel High-Quality Saddles

Many horse riders want the best for their horse. After all, do unto others as you want to be done onto you. For this reason, many riders don’t want to try something risky that might upset their horse.

This is why many horse riders choose to read review upon review of a certain saddle before they make the ultimate purchase.

If you are serious about your and your horse’s well being and are considering buying a Cashel saddle, you would be in the right field of an idea. Cashel saddles are fantastic, not just for you, but for your horse as well. The Cashel company has a wide variety of saddles to choose from.

Although all of these saddles are fantastic, it can confuse horse riders as it can be hard to determine which one is the right one for them. Sounds like you? If so, here are three of the top Cashel saddles that you can buy and a review on why that’s so.

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews #1

15″ to 17″ Roughout Cashel Trail Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews

The 15″ to 17″ Roughout Cashel Trail Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree is one of the best saddles that is offered by the Cashel company. This is true for many reasons.

The Cashel company indeed makes a wide variety of trail saddles. After all, we have two trail saddles featured here out of three, and the third one is a specific type of trail saddle! However, this one stands apart.

The 15″ to 17″ Roughout Cashel Trail Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree breaks away from tradition to enhance comfort and stability.

To start, the 15″ to 17″ Roughout Cashel Trail Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree features modern Fiberglass covered AXIS tree. What? Fiberglass on a saddle? Many old fashioned riders might indeed turn away from this new material in respect to the rugged traditional material of rawhide.

However many modern riders should be aware of all the issues of rawhide that this fibreglass-covered axis tree fixes.

The fibreglass covered AXIS tree gets rid of the issue of uneven weight placement by providing a double stirrup leather cut out which evenly distributes pressure with an even surface.

Also, the fibreglass covered AXIS tree comes equipped with bar tips which minimize foreign actions placed on a horse’s shoulders by spiking all of this exertion up and away. To add on, the fibreglass coating on the AXIS tree enforces it with ten times the strength of old fashioned rawhide trees.

To conclude, let’s not forget the beneficial features of anything that has fibreglass. Fibreglass is water-resistant, weather-resistant, easy to clean, strong, light in weight, durable with the use of chemicals, sustainable to make and use and more. The future is bright!

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews #2

15″ to 17″ Cashel Trail Blazer Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree

The 15″ to 17″ Cashel Trail Blazer Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree is an amazing saddle that the Cashel company distributes. A beloved favourite by many riders, this saddle has stayed popular due to its stellar features.

Horses, like their riders, come in many different shapes and sizes.

Sadly, however, this similarity often gets overlooked. While human clothes can come in sizes ranging from petite to plus, horses don’t usually get this consideration when it comes to saddles.

Sad, isn’t it? Well, the Cashel company thinks this speciesism should get thrown away!

This is why the 15″ to 17″ Cashel Trail Blazer Saddle, Reg or Wide Tree has the option of a regular or wide sized tree so that it can fit that many more horses. Riding along with the theme of different sizes of horses, it should be mentioned the size of a horse does not and should not limit its ability to do a certain job.

The people at Cashel know this and have therefore made sure that this saddle can tackle any trail; long or short.

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews #3

14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT

The 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is one of the Cashel company’s top-selling saddles. There are a few reasons why this saddle has been bought by many different riders.

Although the 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is a trail saddle just like the other two Cashel saddles featured on this list, it stands apart in a few areas.

You might have noticed that this saddle is the most unique when compared to this selection of Cashel saddles.

For one thing, you may have noticed that the 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is a specific type of trail saddle, unlike the other two trail saddles which are described as being overall trail saddles.

The 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is specified as being a Cordura trail saddle. You can tell that this saddle is a Cordura saddle as it is significantly lighter in weight and smaller in size than other trail saddles.

However, don’t let its small size throw you off. The 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT may be small, but it can certainly hold up to and fulfill any activity or job that it is required to do in the same efficiency as any other trail saddle.

In fact, with its lightweight and smaller size, the 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is ideal for younger or smaller horses and riders. For this reason, the 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT is the perfect beginner saddle.

To further assist these future professional horse riders, the Cashel company adds on an optional breast collar and flank strap to give an extra sense of stability. Every great rider was once a beginner after all!

Cashel Trail Saddle Reviews Conclusion

As you can see, the Cashel company makes great saddles to fit all riders and their horses. Or, should I say, all horses and their riders?

We hope these Cashel trail saddle reviews have helped you buy one that suits you, and that will strengthen your bond with your horse. If you haven’t seen any saddles that you liked in this post, click here to see other lightweight horse saddle reviews. Happy trailblazing you two!

    Hi Shalisha,

My niece is a keen rider and shares a horse with one of her friends. I know the upkeep can be expensive but in truth I wasn’t aware that a quality saddle was this expensive. As you’ve highlighted, I guess you get what you pay for. I didn’t appreciate the various differences in terms of sizing etc. but both my niece and her friend have their own saddles so I can see that its not a one size fits all approach.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts – I’ll past on your review to her.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Jason. Thanks for your comment. Yes, saddles are very expensive. The good news is that through places like The Horse Saddle Shop, you can buy used saddles that are like new. You also get a money-back guarantee. I hope you’ll share this with your niece.

  • Christine says:

I like Cashel Trail’s belief, that a great rider should not only know his horse, but also his saddle. Makes sense, since the horse has to carry the rider on the saddle for a quite a long time and it has to be comfortable for both the rider and the horse.
The prices are a bit steep, I had not expected that, but I guess that you’re getting good quality and with a saddle like that you won’t need to replace it any time soon. They probably last a long time. The discounts are also great.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Christine. Thanks for your comment. Yes, the prices are steep. But because these saddles are made so well, you won’t have to replace them any time soon, if at all. Cashel is synonymous with high-quality. Thanks again for your comment.

  • Robb says:

Really enjoyed your review of the Cashel Trail saddles. My grandfather owned a horse and my father in law was big into riding. I always enjoyed it as a kid, going away to summer camp the best part was horse back riding. My daughter is after me to put her into lessons, so if I go ahead I will have to make sure they have a Cashel Trail saddle after reading this review! 🙂

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Robb. Thanks for your comment. I’m glad this was helpful to you. Yes, enroll your daughter in horseback riding lessons – and then let me help her pick her saddle.

  • Mick says:

    Shalisha,

I am a firm believer you always get what you pay for and these saddles whilst they may be expensive, there is no substitute for comfort especially when you are out riding for hours on end.

It’s a two-way thing because you have to consider the horse’s comfort as well as your own.

Some great information here and very well laid out.

    Thank you for sharing

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Mick. Thank you for your comment. Yes. Cashel saddles are expensive. But you get what you pay for. Cashel saddles specifically take the horse’s comfort and rider’s comfort into consideration when making their saddles.

  • Ivan says:

Hey, thanks for sharing another awesome review. I always look up your site whenever I need professional advice and information about anything horse-related, especially saddles. Once again, your review here has saved me a lot of time and research. Cashel seems like a good company and their trail saddles look like a great deal. I’m sure the quality is excellent. Which one of these three saddles in review would you recommend the most? Thanks in advance.

    • Shalisha Alston says:

Hi Ivan. Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you see me as an expert in this field and feel comfortable seeking my guidance when it comes to horse saddles. For me, I love the 14″ to 15″ Cashel Lite Trail Saddle CLT because of the suede roughout. Not only does it look good, but the suede keeps you in the seat and protects the legs from the horse’s sweat.
